Prof. Dr. med. Dr. habil. Kneginja Richter is an internationally recognized specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy with proven expertise in sleep medicine and psychosomatics. She is Chief Physician of the CuraMed Tagesklinik Nürnberg GmbH, a facility specializing in psychosomatic illnesses and sleep disorders, and Professor of Medicine at the Technischen Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm.

In addition, she is Private lecturer in psychiatry at the Paracelsus Medical University Nuremberg and Associate Professor of Sleep Medicine at Goce Delcev University in North Macedonia.

Areas of expertise & research focus

Prof. Richter combines clinical practice with innovative research. Her scientific focus includes:

  • Psychotherapy, sleep medicine and chronobiology – especially in cases of depression, burnout, insomnia, shift work and circadian disorders
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) and depth psychology-based psychotherapy
  • Neurostimulation techniques such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and EEG-based diagnostics
  • Migration and mental health

As chairwoman of the Expert Committee on Chronobiology of the German Society for Sleep Medicine and as a member of several scientific committees, she is actively shaping the future of sleep and chronomedicine.

  • Doctorate (Dr. med.) at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) on the topic of heart rate analysis
  • Specialist training in psychiatry and psychotherapy as well as additional qualification in sleep medicine (BLÄK)
  • Habilitation in psychiatry and sleep medicine at the Paracelsus Private Medical University Nuremberg (2019)
  • MHBA (Master of Health Business Administration) at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg
